A headshot, from the selfie you already have

A professional headshot costs a morning and a few hundred pounds, and most people need one for a profile that will be looked at for four seconds. respecced takes a selfie and gives you the same thing: plain background, good light, business clothes, your own face unchanged.

What it changes and what it will not

It changes the background, the lighting and the clothes. It does not change you. Your face, its lines, its freckles and its age all stay exactly as they are, which is the whole point: a headshot that does not look like the person who turns up to the meeting is worse than no headshot.

That is a deliberate rule rather than a limitation. Presets that smooth a face or reshape it are not in the catalogue at all.

Passports and ID photos

There is a passport preset too, with the rules that go with it: plain background, no shadows, neutral expression, mouth closed, eyes visible, no hat. It keeps the collar or neckline in frame rather than cropping to bare shoulders, and it keeps every line of the face so you look your real age.

Check your own country's requirements before using one for an application. They differ, they change, and no generated picture should be submitted without reading them.

What photo to start from

Face on, decent light, nothing covering your face. A plain selfie against a wall is ideal, which is fortunate, because that is the photo almost everybody already has.
