Decide before you are in the chair

Choosing a colour from a wheel of tiny plastic tips is guesswork, and nail art is worse, because the picture on the wall is on somebody else's hands. respecced shows the shape, the length, the colour and the art on a photograph of your own hands.

Photograph your hands, not your face

This is the one category where the usual selfie is the wrong picture. Lay your hands flat, palms down, in decent light, and take a photo that clearly shows all the fingers.

If the hands are not in the frame, respecced says so before spending a credit. That check exists because an earlier version, asked for a manicure on a head-and-shoulders portrait, re-rendered a fifth of the photograph rather than admitting it could not do it.

Hands are left alone

Only the nails change. The hands are not slimmed, smoothed or lightened, which had to be said explicitly in the instructions because the model will otherwise quietly tidy them up while it is in there.

That is the same line the rest of the catalogue draws: this shows you a thing you could buy, not a different body.

Taking it to the salon

Download the result and show it. A picture of the colour and length on your own hands is a far better brief than a name from a chart, and it makes the appointment quicker for both of you.
