See the dress, or the suit, before the appointment

Bridal appointments are booked weeks ahead and you get through a handful of dresses in an afternoon. Seeing a shape on yourself beforehand does not replace the fitting, but it does mean you walk in knowing which shapes are worth the hour.

What this is for, and what it is not

It is not a substitute for trying a dress on. Fabric moves, boning changes a silhouette, and nobody should buy a wedding dress from a picture. What it is good at is narrowing the list: seeing four shapes on your own body in ten minutes tells you which two are worth an appointment.

The same is true of a suit. A morning coat and a three-piece are different propositions on different builds, and it is far easier to decide when you are looking at yourself in both.

Bring a dress you have already found

Most people arrive with something saved: a boutique page, a photograph from a wedding fair, a friend's picture. "Try a dress from a photo" takes that image and fits that dress to you, using only the dress and never the model wearing it.

That matters more here than anywhere else in the catalogue, because a dress on a five-foot-eleven model is precisely the picture that tells you nothing about how it will sit on you.

The party as well as the couple

The wedding presets also cover the guests, because the question of what to wear to somebody else's wedding is at least as common and rather less well served. Trying a suit or an outfit on your own photo settles an argument that otherwise runs for a fortnight.

How it works

1. Upload a photo

A selfie is enough. Face on, decent light, everyday clothes. Software screens it before anything happens; no person sees it.

2. Tap what to change

Pick from presets. There is nothing to type and nothing to learn.

3. See it in seconds

Slide between before and after, keep what you like, stack another change, download.

Questions

Will it show what the fabric actually does?

No, and nothing from a photograph can. It shows shape, colour and proportion on your body, which is the part you can judge from a picture.

Can I try a dress from a boutique website?

Yes. It uses the dress alone and fits it to you; the model in the original photo is ignored entirely.

Does it change my body?

No. Body shape, weight and proportions are held fixed on every try-on preset. The garment is fitted to you as you are.

Is it free?

Yes, to start with. You get a few free respecs on your first visit with no account and no card; after that you buy credits or subscribe.

Want to try it on yourself?

Upload one photo and see it in about twelve seconds. A few free respecs to start, no account and no card. Adults only; your photos stay private, every image is checked, and photos and results are deleted after 24 hours.
